It’s where you nourish yourself, your friendships & your family.
That's why it’s worth it to set a table you love.
Our mission at Year & Day is to make that easy for you.
We researched what people actually use and want in their modern lives.
Then we traveled the world to learn about the finest materials and the rich, storied traditions of crafting Ceramics, Glass, and Flatware. Along the way, we found partners in Italy and Portugal whose legacies we respected and who shared our commitment to environmental responsibility. Then we had a few Aperol Spritzes to celebrate.
This is the end of weekends schlepping to home goods stores, overwhelmed by quantities, underwhelmed by design, and dodging registry guns. Shop a la carte or let us help you build a Complete Set that suits your own years & days.
Your time. Your table. Yours to set.
In mineral-rich Portugal, where our ceramics are made, they’ve been crafting fine stoneware for centuries. We love the elemental simplicity of using earth, fire, and hands to shape and seal our plates, bowls, mugs, serving pieces, and vase.
From the mold to the kiln, our ceramics are crafted by skilled technicians proudly continuing their local legacy of artisan stoneware and masonry. An innovative, high-temperature method of firing ensures a vitrified glaze surface, which means consistent colors and durable, semi-matte finishes.
Our partner sources local clay, reuses clay waste, and uses a single-firing method that conserves energy and reduces greenhouse emissions. Looking good, feeling good.
Our designs are inspired by the timeless grace of minimalism, where beauty meets utility. We've spent our years & days admiring the daily rhythms of our beloved California coastline and created these four colors to match: Daybreak, Fog, Moon, and Midnight. We worked with artists and chemists to create our semi-gloss finish in this Pacific dream palette. Stock up in all one color or mix and match. They play nicely together.
Our flatware is made in a family-owned factory in Portugal whose production techniques meet every heritage mark of luxury, down to polishing each fork tine by hand (making it easier to stab each and every leaf—romaine, you've been warned).
Our forks and spoons are made of 18/10 stainless steel, which contains the highest amount of nickel for a shiny, luxe brilliance. Our matte finishes are made from the same high-quality 18/10 stainless steel and then coated with eco-friendly, high-tech, high-purity compounds for serious sophistication.
We forge our knife blades by heating then shaping a single bar of steel so they stay stronger and sharper for longer.
The Polished Steel knife has a hollow handle for lightness and impeccable balance. You'll recognize the quality the moment you pick it up.
We offer our elegant, timeless style of flatware and Serving Fork & Spoon in three colors: a shiny Polished Steel, Matte Black, and Matte Gold. One person's place setting includes one Knife, one Big Fork, one Small Fork, one Big Spoon, and one Small Spoon. We offer place settings for four people, as well as Knives, Big Forks, and Big Spoons a la carte.
Italy has long been perfecting the finer pleasures of life, so when it was time to research the craft of glassmaking, we headed straight for the heart of la dolce vita. Our Italian was limited (Negroni, Spritz, Chianti) but we found some friendly partners who understood exactly what we were saying.
Our glassware production is led by a man whose family has been courting the white heat of the shop fire for over two hundred years. This generations-long artisan tradition results in the purest, most transparent glass (that's also durable enough for the dishwasher and your dance parties).
A smooth finish on the lips is always nice. We laser-cut the rims to achieve this along with a crystalline beauty.
The wine glass stems may look delicate, but we've incorporated the latest innovations into the centuries-old art of glassmaking to be sure they're tough as nails. These perfect proportions are reinforced by a drawn stem so that they survive from the first mimosa to the last toast.
Our glass is free of lead and other heavy metals, and we don't use toxic chemicals in production. Cheers to that.
Our three simple shapes keep your table (and your shelving) clutter free. One all-purpose wine glass suits the nose and taste of red, white, and rosé (and bubbles and spritzes and lambics and lambruscos, but who's counting?). Our sleek tall glass and a short glass cover everything else.
Everything you need and nothing you don't. We studied the shelves of people like you to learn what people actually use and love (spoiler: You don't need a gravyboat).
Tell us a little about your lifestyle and we'll customize an assortment for you in five steps.
Safe for dishwasher, freezer, microwave, and oven up to 480 degrees. Our high-temp, single-firing production ensures durability.
Semi-matte ceramics are susceptible to superficial marks from your flatware. This residue is removable with Barkeeper’s Friend & Polish.
Our glass retains its durability and clarity through at least ten years of dishwasher cycles. Our Wine Glass fits in the top rack of most dishwashers. (You're welcome!)
Like everything we make, our flatware is dishwasher safe. We recommend completely drying your pieces soon after washing or using Rinse Aid in the dishwasher to prevent water droplets from leaving spots. Anti-abrasive, non-citrus detergents are best for long-term care.
